The Annual General Meeting (2021-22) of the development organization Ghashful was held on December 28, 2022, at the conference hall of a hotel in the city. President of Ghashful Executive Committee and Senate member of Chittagong University, sociologist Dr. Manzur-Ul-Amin Chowdhury presided the meeting in presence of prominent personalities of national levels, heads of various NGOs, members of the Ghashful General Body and Ghashful Chief Executive Officer Aftabur Rahman Jafree. Md. Wahidul Alam, Assistant Director and Sabbir Hossain, Officer of Department of Social Services, Ministry of Social Welfare were present as observers. Among the prominent speakers, Ghashful’s Advisory Committee member Suraiya Zannat FCA, health professional Dr. Nizam Uddin, Shipa Hafeeza, tribal development activist Sarah Marandi, artist Samina Nafeez, writer and musician Jannat-e-Ferdousi were present.
In the beginning, Ghashful theme song “Ek Parane Lakho Jibon” was displayed and Ghashful founder late Shamsunnahar Rahman Paran, Chief Patron late M.L. Rahman and other deceased members of organization were remembered with respect. General Secretary of Ghashful Executive Committee Shamiha Salim presented a complete report on various developmental activities of the organization during the current financial year. The members at the meeting had an extensive discussion on the report presented by the General Secretary and evaluated the progress of the overall development activities conducted by Ghashful this year and determined the necessary directions and actions for the next financial year. In the meeting, the revised budget of the organization for the financial year 2021-22 and the budget for the financial year 2022-2023, appointment of auditor and appointment of the income tax advisor were approved. The speakers in the meeting urged to increase the risk management skills of the organization to face the future challenges, global recession and disasters and gave suggestions to expand organizational work-area.
In the discussion session, Vice-President of Ghashful Executive Committee, Shib Narayan Kairy; former vice-chancellor of Emirates Bangladesh Agricultural University, Prof. M.A. Sattar Mandal; Parveen Mahmud FCA, Prof. Dr. Zainab Begum, former vice-chancellor of Khulna University Golam Rahman, former Principal Secretary to Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Abdul Karim, Dr. Moinul Islam Mahmud, renowned banker K. A. M. Mazedur Rahman, Shahana Muhit, Shamiha Salim, Md. Ohiduzzaman, Zareen Mahmud Hosein CPA, FCA, Jhuma Rahman spoke among others. Joint General Secretary of Ghashful Executive Committee Kabita Barua, General Body members Dr. Salima Hoque, Mafruha Sultana, Zahida Ispahani, Jahanara Begum, Yasmin Ahmed, Shahana Muhit and former General body members Shahidullah and Nazneen Rahman were present. Auditor Sanjida Aktar FCA, Dr. Sakib Rahman were also present at the meeting.
In the meeting, a new Executive Committee of seven (07) members was formed unanimously for three years tenure from July 2023 to June 2026, which will be effective from July 01, 2023. The members of the new Executive Committee are: President – Dr. Manzur-Ul-Amin Chowdhury, Vice-President- S.N. Kairy, General Secretary-Mafruha Sultana, Joint General Secretary- Shahana Muhit, Treasurer- K.A.M. Mazedur Rahman, Executive member – Professor Dr. Zainab Begum and Parveen Mahmud FCA. Finally, the president concluded the meeting by expressed his gratitude to everyone for electing him for the third term and expressed his hopes and best wishes to the newly formed committee to work with cooperation and integrity in order to meet future challenges of the organization.
