The 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Ghashful was held virtually on Saturday, 9 May 2026, from the organization’s head office in Chandgaon, Chattogram. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Monzur-ul-Amin Chowdhury, Chairperson of the Executive Committee and Senate Member of the University of Chittagong. Members of the General Body, representatives from the Department of Social Services, audit firm representatives, and Ghashful officials were present.
At the outset, CEO Aftabur Rahman Jafree presented the minutes and progress of the 43rd AGM. Executive Committee General Secretary Mafruha Sultana presented the annual activities, while Deputy Director Sadia Rahman presented the Annual Report (2024–2025). Deputy Director Maruful Karim Chowdhury presented the audited financial report for FY 2024–25 and the proposed budget for FY 2025–26.
The meeting approved the audited financial statements, the annual budget, and the appointment of auditors. Speakers highlighted Ghashful’s contributions across urban and rural Bangladesh in areas such as safe agriculture, education, health, environment, social protection, child development, and safe food production. Notably, climate-resilient initiatives in the Barind region—particularly in safe poultry, agriculture, and fruit cultivation—were recognized for creating visible positive impacts. A visual documentary showcasing these initiatives was also presented and widely appreciated.
Distinguished members including former Cabinet Secretary Dr. Mohammad Abdul Karim, former Vice Chancellor of Khulna University Dr. Golam Rahman, former Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University Dr. M.A. Sattar Mondol, and several other eminent members participated in the discussion. Representatives from the Department of Social Services and the audit firm Hossain Farhad & Co. were also present.
The newly formed Executive Committee for the term 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2029 was announced as follows: President – Mafruha Sultana; Vice President – Shiv Narayan Kairy; General Secretary – Shamiha Salim; Joint Secretary – Shahana Begum; Treasurer – K.A.M. Majedur Rahman; Executive Members – Kabita Barua and Zareen Mahmud Hosein.
Concluding the meeting, speakers congratulated the newly formed committee and expressed confidence that under their leadership, Ghashful’s development initiatives will expand further, becoming more dynamic and people-centered, and continuing to improve the lives of marginalized communities across Bangladesh.
