The progress of ongoing pond re-excavation activities under the ECCCP-Drought Project, implemented by Ghashful to address water scarcity in drought-prone areas of Naogaon, was reviewed on 14 May.

Assistant Director (SDP) K.M.G. Rabbani Bosunia visited the “Dharmapur Pond” re-excavation site in Dharmapur village of Bhabiya Union under Niamatpur Upazila. During the visit, he assessed the progress of the work and exchanged views with concerned stakeholders.

Under the ECCCP-Drought Project, funded by the Green Climate Fund and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), initiatives such as pond and canal re-excavation are being implemented to enhance water retention and support groundwater recharge.

Stakeholders expressed optimism that these efforts will play a significant role in addressing drought challenges, improving irrigation facilities, and enhancing the overall livelihoods of local communities.
