With support from the RMTP Poultry Sub Project implemented by Ghashful under the financing of PKSF and IFAD, Ms. Nargis Begum of Sarta village in Mohadevpur upazila, Naogaon, has developed a unique and profitable duck farm. She is currently raising 1,800 Khaki Campbell ducks on her farm.

Such farming initiatives help small and marginal farmer entrepreneurs increase their income, promote the production of safe poultry products and contribute to the development of local markets. The Khaki Campbell breed has become increasingly popular in Bangladesh due to its high egg and meat productivity and its suitability for household level backyard farming.

Sharing her experience, Nargis Begum said, “I was able to start my farm with the support and training from Ghashful. My family’s monthly income has increased, and due to the growing market demand, my sense of self reliance has also improved significantly.”

The RMTP poultry team provided her with farmer training, guidance on poultry health management and support in establishing market linkages. As a result, her farm has become not only a source of livelihood for her family but also an inspiration for neighbouring households.

The success and innovative efforts of Nargis Begum are showing a promising path for families living in poverty in the Mohadevpur region, where safe poultry production and profitable farming are contributing to both financial stability and improved nutritional security.
