International Day for Universal Access to Information

International Day for Universal Access to Information has been celebrated in Bangladesh as well as all over the world. On the 28th of September, 2020 with the collaboration of the District Commissioner Office and working NGOs in Chittagong district observed the day with great enthusiasm. The theme of the day for the year was “Access to Information: Leaving no one behind”. On the day of the celebration a colorful rally started from the Circuit House yard. The rally was inaugurated by the District Commissioner (in charge) Yesmin Parveen Tibrizi. At the end of the rally, a meeting was held in the auditorium of Circuit House under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner X and Executive Magistrate Farhana Jahan Upoma was the master of ceremony.   Chief guest at the meeting was Yesmin Parveen Tibrizi, the Distric Commissioner (Acting). Addition Police Super of Chittagong and Deputy Director of District Information Office of Chittagong was present as special guest speakers. The Chief Guest mentioned in her speech that the government has been working on implementing the Right to Information Act. To achieve the sustainable development goals there is no substitute of information. Pre-condition for development is the use of the information. The prerequisite for development is the right use of information. The government is also working to ensure the right to information at the local level. Ghashful took active participation in the rally and the discussion meeting along with other govt. and non govt. organizations.
