Students of Ghashful Paran Rahman School handed over 100 kg of collected plastic waste to World Vision Bangladesh for recycling, demonstrating their commitment to a cleaner, greener environment.
The handover took place during an awareness session jointly organised by Ghashful and World Vision Bangladesh at the school in West Madarbari at 11:30 a.m. on 17th September 2026. Under the slogan “Say No to Plastic, Build a Beautiful World,” the programme highlighted the importance of reducing plastic use to protect the environment.
Speakers discussed the serious threats plastic pollution poses to the environment, biodiversity and human health, urging everyone to adopt environmentally friendly alternatives. Emphasising young people’s role in building a sustainable future, they encouraged students to develop the habit of avoiding single-use plastics from their school years.
The session was chaired by the school’s Principal, Mahmuda Akter, with World Vision Bangladesh Programme Officer Dolon Rozario attending as a special guest. Ghashful Branch Manager Rupna Mallik was also present, while Project Coordinator Sirajul Islam delivered the welcome remarks. Teachers, students and representatives of both organisations participated enthusiastically.
In recognition of the students’ initiative, World Vision Bangladesh distributed health and hygiene supplies and educational materials among them.
The programme concluded with a shared pledge to work together towards a plastic-free environment and a greener city.
