International Women’s Day 2026 was celebrated with vibrant rallies, discussions, and community activities in both Chattogram and Niamatpur Upazila of Naogaon, with active participation from Ghashful. This year’s global theme was “Today’s Action for Tomorrow’s Justice: Ensuring the Rights and Protection of Women and Girls.”
In Chattogram, a colorful rally and discussion meeting were organized at the Circuit House on 8th March to mark the occasion. Representatives of Ghashful joined the program alongside officials, civil society members, and community participants to express solidarity in promoting women’s rights and gender equality.
Meanwhile, in Niamatpur Upazila of Naogaon, International Women’s Day was celebrated through a day long series of events organized with the coordination of the Upazila Administration and the initiative of the Ghashful SMART Fruits Sub Project. The celebration began with a rally from the Upazila Parishad premises, where local officials, teachers, students, women entrepreneurs, and members of social organizations participated enthusiastically.
Following the rally, a discussion session was held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium where speakers highlighted the growing contributions of women in education, agriculture, business, and various sectors of society. They emphasized the need for collective efforts to ensure women’s rights, dignity, and equal participation at all levels.
A special highlight of the program was a painting and essay competition organized for children of the Ghashful Foster Children Care Center, where participants creatively expressed their thoughts on women’s rights, gender equality, and the significance of International Women’s Day. Prizes were awarded to the winners.
The program also honored several successful local women entrepreneurs, who shared inspiring stories of overcoming challenges to build sustainable livelihoods and motivate other women to pursue entrepreneurship.
Representatives from the Upazila Women Affairs Department, Ghashful’s SMART Fruits Project, the ENRICH Program, the Microfinance Program, and other government and non government organizations were present at the event. Organizers expressed hope that such initiatives will continue to promote women’s empowerment, social awareness, and the creative development of children in the future.
