A divisional consultation titled “Enhancing E Participation and the Role of Civil Society Organizations” was held on 13 November in the conference room of the Chattogram Deputy Commissioner to strengthen citizen engagement in Digital Bangladesh and make participation more inclusive and effective.
The meeting was presided over by Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Overall) of Chattogram. The event was attended by Md. Mahmudul Hossain Khan, Secretary (Attached) to the Chief Adviser’s Office, as the Chief Guest. Special Guests included Mohammad Anwar Uddin, Additional Secretary of the ICT Division, and Md. Daud Mia NDC, Director General of the NGO Affairs Bureau.
The welcome address was delivered by Hasibur Rahman, Executive Director of MRDI, followed by the keynote presentation from Dr. Ananya Raihan, Chairperson of iSocial. Ghashful’s Chief Executive Officer, Aftabur Rahman Jafree, joined the meeting along with government officials, civil society leaders and NGO representatives.
Speakers emphasized that active citizen involvement is essential for effective e participation. They noted that building public trust and interest in digital platforms is crucial. They also highlighted that collaboration among local administration, NGOs and civil society can make e participation more accessible, user friendly and impactful. Additionally, they stressed the need to raise awareness among communities about the importance and benefits of digital participation.
Participants expressed hope that through active civic engagement and collective efforts, e participation will become more inclusive, people centered and sustainable.
