As part of its ongoing efforts under the Ghashful CARE Project, supported by UNDP, eight indigenous women from the Chakbeni community of Mathurapur Union, Badalgachhi Upazila, Naogaon, have been provided with climate-resilient poultry sheds to support sustainable livelihoods.
The sheds were officially handed over on Sunday, 14 July. Designed to address the challenges posed by drought and extreme heat, these improved sheds feature enhanced ventilation with mesh windows on both sides, a separate compartment for chicks, dedicated breeding space, and other climate-adaptive technologies.
Project officials stated that these improved poultry sheds will enable indigenous women to rear poultry in a healthy and sustainable environment, contributing to household income and strengthening women’s economic empowerment.
Under the Ghashful CARE Project, more families are expected to receive such upgraded poultry sheds in the future. The initiative aims to play a vital role in securing livelihoods and improving the socio-economic condition of indigenous households in the region.
