On 17 February, a meeting with fish farmers was organized in South Chanhara Union of Patiya Upazila, Chattogram, aiming to develop skilled and successful small aquaculture entrepreneurs under the initiative of the Agriculture Unit of Ghashful. The meeting was arranged by the Ghashful Patiya Sadar Branch and was attended by a significant number of local fish farmers.
During the session, Amir Hamza, Coordinator of Ghashful’s Agriculture Unit, delivered a detailed discussion on modern fish farming techniques, increasing production, and effective market linkage strategies. He emphasized scientific and cost-effective farming practices to ensure sustainable growth.
Speeches were also delivered by Mohammad Osman, Area Manager, and Mashliur Rahman Parvez, Branch Manager, who assured continued financial and technical support from Ghashful to enhance members’ income-generating initiatives. They provided guidance on increasing productivity at lower costs, adopting scientific aquaculture methods, and ensuring sustainable farm management.
Farmers raised various field-level challenges, including water quality management, fish diseases, shortage of quality fingerlings, high feed costs, and lack of fair market prices. Experts offered practical solutions and modern management strategies to address these issues.
