Ghashful participated in an anti-drug awareness discussion and social-cultural program held on 22 July 2026 at the Chattogram Theatre Institute Auditorium under the theme, “Say No to Drugs, Build a Better Future.”
The program was jointly organized by World Vision Bangladesh (Karnaphuli Area Development Program) in collaboration with eight development organizations, including Ghashful, to raise awareness among young people about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
The event was chaired by Johny Rozario, Area Program Manager of World Vision Bangladesh, with Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali attending as Chief Guest. Important remarks were also delivered by Nizam Uddin, Prosecutor of the Department of Narcotics Control, Chattogram. Special guests included Additional Director of the Department of Narcotics Control Md. Zahid Hossain Molla and General Secretary of Chattogram Press Club Golam Mawla Murad.
Representing Ghashful, Deputy Director Maruful Karim Chowdhury spoke at the event alongside leaders from other partner organizations. Speakers highlighted that drug addiction is severely affecting the physical and mental development of young people and posing a serious threat to society. They emphasized that administrative action alone is not enough; rather, sports, healthy cultural engagement, and positive recreational opportunities must also be promoted to protect youth from drugs.
Around 250 young participants from Chattogram attended the program and were encouraged to play an active and responsible role in resisting drug abuse.
The event concluded with an anti-drug concert and cultural performances by members of World Vision Bangladesh’s Youth Forum and popular singer Poly Sharmin, delivering an inspiring message in favor of a healthy and drug-free life.
The program was coordinated with the support of representatives from World Vision Bangladesh and Ghashful Project Coordinator Sirajul Islam.
