On 21 December 2025, Sharmin Farhat Obayed, Gender Consultant of the BD Rural WASH for HCD Project implemented by Ghashful with support from PKSF, visited various project activities in Patiya upazila of Chattogram district.
During the visit, she physically inspected nine sanitation facilities installed at the field level and assessed their quality. She provided guidance and recommendations on improving construction standards, with particular emphasis on ensuring safe and user friendly latrines for women and persons with disabilities.
She also visited the home of a field level LE who is engaged in sanitary napkin sales, where she reviewed sales activities and maintained records. During the interaction, she shared advice on strategies to increase sales and enhance awareness on menstrual health management. As part of the visit, she met with an LE working as a latrine constructor and inspected the concrete rings produced by him. She emphasized strict adherence to the toilet models prescribed by the World Bank and PKSF, advising against any deviations.
Later, she conducted an orientation session with female staff members of Ghashful’s Kalurpol Branch focusing on gender issues and menstrual health management. She also instructed staff to raise awareness on these topics during group meetings with members. While visiting the branch, she expressed satisfaction after observing the sanitary napkin sales corner and the separate toilet facilities arranged for female staff and women members.
The visit was attended by Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Assistant Director of Ghashful Chattogram Zone, Mohammad Osman, Area Manager, and Syed Mansur Ali, Branch Manager.
