Training on Climate Vulnerability and Environmental Management Held under Ghashful Sub Project in Sapahar

On 12 November, a day long training on climate vulnerability and environmental management was held at the Sapahar Branch under the “Promotion of Value Added Fruits for Sustainable Growth and Instituting RECP Practices” sub project, implemented by Ghashful with support from PKSF.

The objective of the training was to enhance entrepreneurs’ understanding of climate risks, environmental and pollution management, resource efficient and cleaner production systems and the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies to make the fruit production sector more sustainable.

A total of 25 entrepreneurs participated in the training, including 3 men and 21 women. The session was attended by Md. Moniruzzaman, Additional Agriculture Extension Officer of Sapahar Upazila, Md. Sohel Rana, Senior Teacher of the Department of Geography and Environment at Sapahar Government College and officials from the sub project.

At the beginning of the training, Project Manager Md. Mostafa Kamal presented the objectives and operational strategies of PKSF and the SMART Project.
Senior Teacher Md. Sohel Rana delivered an extensive discussion on environment and climate change and urged entrepreneurs to play a responsible role in environmental conservation.
Additional Agriculture Extension Officer Md. Moniruzzaman advised caution in the excessive use of chemical pesticides and encouraged the use of organic alternatives.

The sub project’s Environment and RECP Officer Md. Jewel Rana presented the RECP implementation strategies. Technical Officer Md. Mosabber Hossain discussed waste management. MIS Officer Md. Hasan Shovon highlighted the importance of workplace safety, and Accounts Officer Erfat Jahan provided guidance on gender and grievance redress mechanisms.

The training concluded with a question and answer session conducted by Project Manager Md. Mostafa Kamal.
